Guide lines for the use of Temple downstairs hall
There are three types of events under consideration:
- Temple Sponsored Events
- Temple Approved Events – No usage charge
- Temple Approved Events – Usage Charge
- Temple Sponsored Activities: From time to time the Temple will organize activities for the community aligned with its mission. For these activities, the question of usage fees does not arise since the temple is the organizer and host.
- Temple Approved Events – No usage charge: From time to time, members from the community will organize events falling into the following categories:

A. Religious type activities such as:
· Lectures or satsangwith swamis/gurus
· Bhajan Group
·
Audio/Video
listening/viewing of religious topic
· B. Cultural/ Educational activities such as:
·
Language, heritage, yoga
or meditation classes arranged through the Temple Committee.
·
Music or dance program
– free if devotional (no food, but admission charge to cover artist’s charges
are acceptable)
·
Conferences.
· Conditions:
·
Open to all
·
No admission charge
·
No food ( simple prasad
may be served in the hallway)
·
Any offering to God
goes to the temple (any guru dakshina goes to the guru)
· If any of these conditions are not met there will be
a charge of $50
These activities
will be given the publicity in the Temple newsletter at the discretion of the
Temple Committee.
- Temple Approved Events – Usage Charge: All other activities that do not fall into the
above two categories will be treated as being in the third category (The
Temple will be the sole authority in deciding which category an activity
belongs to). Examples of some of these activities are given below:
Hall Rental Rates:
- $25 per hour for
minimum of 2 hours (During temple hours only) - Monday thru Thursday except holidays.
- $45 per hour for
minimum of 2 hours (During temple hours only) - Friday thru Sunday and holidays.
- $200 for half day
(9am to 2pm or 4pm to 9pm) - Friday thru Sunday and holidays.
- $375 for full day (9am
to 8pm) - Friday thru Sunday and holidays.
Note: Non-members will be charged
extra 25% on top of our member rates for Rental, Security & Cleaning
deposit.
Finally:
- The temple reserves the right to refuse
approval.
- Temple activities will always have preference
over other events. The temple reserves the right to change pricing
without notice. Code of conduct must be in keeping with temple premises.
- Size of the group being served will be a
factor taken into account
- A deposit of $50 is required from any one
sponsoring an event.
- For Wedding, the hall rental shall not be less than half-day.
- If food is being served a deposit of $150 is
required. The deposit will be returned after the committee has
determined that the premises were left in a clean state. Temple’s
decision will be final in determining the "clean state".
- Reservation is
confirmed only when the deposit and rental payment is received. If a reservation is cancelled or
postponed and if any other party was denied the reservation for that period the
money is forfeited. If no other party had approached for that period the money
will be refunded.
Payment Details:
- Hall Rental amount can be paid by cash/check.
- Security/Cleaning Deposit shall be paid by check (Dated for day of event).
- Make the checks payable to “Hindu Temple of Rochester” and in the memo write “Hall Rental”/ “Security Deposit”.
Cancellation Policy:
Refund of Security deposit will be as follows:
- Full Refund - If cancelled 7 days before the event.
- 80% Refund - If cancelled in the last 7 days up to 24 hours before the event.
- 50% Refund - If cancelled within 24 hours of the event.
